What Transmission is

Transmission delivers a short daily voice message generated in your own voice, written from the perspective of your future self. To do that, we necessarily handle some sensitive personal data. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who processes it, how long we keep it, and what control you have.

Information we collect

How we use it

We use your information to deliver the service you signed up for (generating and delivering your daily messages), with your consent where the law requires it (your voice model, your birth information), and in our legitimate interest to keep the service secure and understand how it is used. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

How your voice is used

Your voice recording is used to create a private voice clone with our speech synthesis provider (currently ElevenLabs). That clone is used for one purpose only: generating your own daily messages. Your voice is never used for anyone else's content, never shared with other users, and never used to train general-purpose models. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your voice profile in Settings — see Retention and deletion below.

How messages are generated

Each day we assemble context from the information above and use AI language and speech models to write and voice your message. Excerpts of your profile information are shared with our AI providers (currently OpenAI and ElevenLabs) as needed to generate content, under agreements that prohibit them from using it to train their models. If you provide birth information, it is sent to a birth-chart computation service (astrology-api.io) to derive personalization signals used in your messages.

Service providers

We share data only with providers who process it on our behalf to run Transmission:

What we don't do

Retention and deletion

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Deletion and consent withdrawal are built into the app as described above; for anything else — including a copy of your data — contact us and we will respond within 30 days. We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Where data is processed

Transmission is operated from the United States, and your data is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you use Transmission from elsewhere, your data will be transferred to the US as part of the service.

Data security

Audio and personal data are stored encrypted at rest with access restricted to the systems that need them. Audio is served only through private, expiring links. Administrative access to user data is logged in an audit trail.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes — especially to how voice data is handled — we will notify you in the app and, where the law requires, ask for your consent again before the change applies to you. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
